Odonga Otto Becomes Latest Leader To Attack NUP And Brand It Tribalistic

Former Aruu County MP, Hon Odonga Otto has become the latest political figure to attack the National Unity Platform. Otoo went ahead to brand the Kamwokya-based party tribalistic.

Otto said that Besigye was able to poll 37% of the vote in 2006 while Bobi Wine polled 35% of the vote in 2021. This all happened despite the massive vote rigging in all elections.

Otto then said that Besigye’s support was spread across the country. However, Bobi Wine’s support is basically in the Central region.

The challenge NUP has, therefore, is to transform itself into a national party and not for one region, Buganda.

The lawyer who recently retired from active politics then proceeded to request the insults from NUP fans to start since it has become synonymous with their debates.

In 2006 @Besigye polled 37% while in 2021 @HEBobiwine polled 35% of the votes albeit all the rigging. KB support was spread across the country while Bobi's support is in the central.
The challenge NUP has now is to transform itself into a national party .

Tribalism is the biggest factor that the critics and all those that seem to give NUP advice centre on. Many have accused the party of being a replica of the pre and post-independence Buganda Kingdom party, the Kabaka Yekka.

NUP however always comes out to distance itself from such allegations maintaining that it’s an all-inclusive party.

DP president Nobert Mao has been the one on the offensive against the Kamwokya based party. Mao accuses the party of damaging propaganda including insults, slander blackmail, and threats.

The DP president however said that it’s going to be an eye for an eye in the next two years.

This was after he launched a verbal social media war against NUP. Mao added that he’s surprised the party doesn’t come out to disprove his allegations but rather attack him.
