Office Of The Prime Minister Empowers Farmers And Schools With Generous Donations

In a heartfelt display of support for the agricultural community and education sector, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has made a profound impact on the region of Bunyoro.

Led by the esteemed Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs, Jennifer Namuyangu Kacha, the OPM has generously bestowed over 10,000 farm items and building materials upon the deserving inhabitants of Kibaale, Kakumiro, Kagadi, Hoima, Kikuube, Buliisa, and Masindi.

Massive farm equipment donation boosts agriculture

Recognizing that agriculture is the backbone of our great nation, the government has taken a proactive stance in empowering the hardworking individuals of Bunyoro. Minister Namuyangu expressed her delight in providing essential farm equipment, enabling the local populace to cultivate their lands on a larger scale.

Notably, several groups have been the recipients of tractors, while government schools have been graced with the delivery of over 1,000 iron sheets.

Historical school reinvigorated

The significance of this support became even more apparent as Minister Namuyangu addressed district leaders and school administrators during the handover ceremonies.

At Kakumiro district headquarters and St. Edward’s SS Bukumi, she shared the remarkable news of the OPM’s donation of 400 iron sheets to the esteemed St. Edward’s Bukumi. Steeped in history and revered for nurturing notable government officials such as Robinah Nabanja, former Vice President Gilbert Bukenya, Matia Kasaija, and Baguma Isoke, the school holds a special place in the hearts of many.

Reflecting on the school’s prestigious legacy, Minister Namuyangu emphasized the importance of preserving its heritage and nurturing future leaders. “For a school like St. Edward’s Bukumi, which has produced such distinguished individuals in government, every effort must be made to ensure its longevity and the continued production of ministers, MPs, prime ministers, and even presidents,” she passionately declared.

Iron sheet donation revitalizes historical school

Witnessing the transformative impact of the OPM’s generosity, John Fisher Njogerere, the Head Teacher of St. Edward’s Bukumi SS, expressed his gratitude.

He acknowledged the OPM’s donation of iron sheets, which have breathed new life into the historical school that proudly educates nearly 1,000 students under the guidance of 45 dedicated teachers.

Understanding the school’s aspirations to reclaim its former glory, Njogerere conveyed the pressing needs of St. Edward’s Bukumi. From renovating existing structures to expanding facilities, the school yearned for a modern building, a fully stocked library, and a well-equipped laboratory.

Njogerere firmly believed that addressing these needs would foster a conducive environment for students to excel academically. “We were once the pinnacle of education in the region, competing nationally. With the fulfillment of our most pressing requirements, we can reclaim that title,” he passionately stated.

As the echoes of appreciation reverberated through the air, the people of Bunyoro basked in the knowledge that the Office of the Prime Minister had left an indelible mark on their lives. Through their benevolence, the OPM has not only empowered farmers but also breathed new life into educational institutions, paving the way for a brighter future for all.
