A few weeks ago, tempers flared up during a live session of the NBS Frontline show. Opondo and Lukwago found themselves in almost a fistfight with the former on the offensive and Lukwago on the defensive.
Lukwago proceeded to move to court and filed a lawsuit against Opondo. Things however seem to have calmed down a little bit. Since then Ofwono had never come out to address the situation. And both him and Lukwago were yet to appear on the show again.
On his maiden return since the altercation, Opondo proceeded to address the situation.
He said that whatever happened was regrettable and unfortunate. Further, he said that this is not a representation of himself but things just got out of hand before he promised to the public and fellow panelists that such a scenario won’t ever happen again.
However, in all this, Ofwono didn’t apologize for whatever happened. He however cautioned other incoming panelists to always make sure that they treat each other with respect.
“Three weeks ago, we had an outburst which resulted in a shouting match, particularly with my young brother the lord mayor Erias Lukwago. It escalated into a situation that did not allow the show to go on coming to an abrupt end. This is something regrettable and unfortunate. I want to say to our viewers the general public and even if you didn’t watch that show. I want to say that the incident doesn’t reflect who I am because I’m the longest-serving panelist on the show. I promise it won’t happen again in the future. And I would want to believe that my co-panelists and the guests who come will try to ensure that we don’t handle each other in a manner that leads to failure to understand each other,” he said.
