Mercy Crow during a local TV interview revealed how the song was made. He said that Nankya was his woman and she had gone to visit her parents. However, she died in a car accident and she was buried in Kabembe. Mercy Crow didn’t get to know about this and kept waiting for her at home. He only got to know of Nankya’s death after seeing her ghost in his house.
Apparently, Nankya’s mother had failed to get a child in her marriage. She then went to ritualists who gave her medicine to take which she did and conceived. However, these herbalists told her that the child belonged to them and not her. She therefore had to occasionally take the child to them but instead gave the child to her husband.
Therefore for Nankya’s death, it was her real parents, the spirits that had come back for her. This is why her ghost was too strong because she wasn’t a normal person.
“I only got to know about Nankya’s death a month after her burial. She had died in a car accident and got buried in Kabembe.
Nankya’s mother failed to get a child in her marriage and went to traditional herbalists who gave her medicine to drink,” the singer narrated
Mercy Crow also revealed that he’s been out of the music industry because there is no money.
He said that its only in Uganda where musicians have countless hits but don’t even have 10 decimals of land. Therefore, he decided to concentrate on different ventures and he’s glad he owns a couple of properties now.
It’s only now that the industry is starting to get rewarding but it was only for fun during their era.
