Hon Richard Ssebamala the MP for Bukoto Central constituency has revealed that the opposition is not ready for the 2026 general elections. According to the MP, Ugandans are but the forces seeking change aren’t.
He made the remarks in the wake of the Electoral Commission releasing the roadmap for the 2026 General elections.
The MP added that the EC releasing the road map early is not a bad thing. This can enable different political parties to educate the masses about the thorough electoral processes.
Furthermore, the MP also said that he doesn’t think elections will do much. He cited how President Museveni also tried elections and failed in the 80’s. Thereafter, he used other means to get into power and this means that these can also be explored now.
Besides the MP expects his party president Bobi Wine on the ballot box. He also doesn’t see Muhoozi on the ballot because he doesn’t think the first son will stand against his father.
“The people are ready for the 2026 elections, but the opposition is not.”
“Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu will be on the ballot that I am sure of. I don’t see Muhoozi on the same ballot with his father Museveni. That will be a contradiction.”
Meanwhile the MP said that the injustices in the country point to one thing, regime change. According to him, Ugandans don’t seem to understand how critical a regime change is.
More so he wants those in the NRM to understand this topic better. With the level of ills in the nation, he doesn’t see how the NRM can convince people after 40 years that they have solutions.
