Veteran Kadongo Kamu singer, Mathias Walukagga has advised Swangz Avenue singer Priscilla Zawedde alias Azawi to stop chasing social media clout and instead sing.
Walukagga made these comments in regard to the Masavu singer’s remarks about corruption and regime change in the country.
Apparently, Azawi has been so vocal about the massive levels of corruption in the country. She’s one of those musicians who have vocally spoken about corruption via social media.
Recently she was in an X conversation discussing issues affecting the country and even got Bobi Wine’s appraisal since he was also part of this conversation.
The singer also went after fellow musicians who she claims have let down their fans. They go ahead to profit from these fans but cannot stand with them at the necessary time.
She revealed that her father, sister and brother all died due to the lack of medicine in government hospitals. And all this was brought about by the high corruption levels in government agencies.
However, Mathias Walukagga told her to instead put her message into songs. This is because there are many people out there deep in the countryside who didn’t hear her message which was good.
Being on social media according to the mayor of Nsangi doesn’t bring about results in this struggle.
He gave an example of King Saha who is now singing out all his emotions and beliefs. The Tulepuke singer also said that he used to package his message in revolutionary songs. Therefore this is better than ranting on social media.
On top of that, Walukagga said that he just doesn’t understand why these musicians took so long to see the light. But nonetheless, he’s grateful they saw the light. And hopefully, they are not doing it to please Kyagulanyi or eying political positions.
