In a bid to foster cooperation and keep legacy of present and past leaders, Parliamentary Alumni Association of Uganda has been launched.
The Parliamentary Alumni Association of Uganda is anon partisan forum which brings together all past members of Parliament to enable them contribute to the development of society.
From Independence on 9th October 1962,Uganda has had a total of ten parliaments generating over 1013 members.
Ekomoloit Onapito interim chairman says they intend to develop and set up management information system and conduct database for all former members of Parliament.
He also says the association will establish special investment vehicle to enable members contribute resources for collective investment projects on areas of environment, agro processing, sustainable tour and biogas kitchen for schools.
“We shall advocate for yearly meeting with head of state and establish Parliamentary museum depicting the political journey of this country,”Onapito said.
Emily Otekat member of the board said they will meet annually to review state of governance and political matters of the country.
They will also meet speaker of Parliament and the president to revisit Parliament pension scheme.
