Pastor Bugingo Urges Followers To Support President Museveni In 2026 Elections

Pastor Bugingo Aloysius of House of Prayer Ministries has encouraged his congregation to cast their votes for President Museveni in the upcoming 2026 general elections. Speaking at Canan Land during a Sunday service, Bugingo emphasized the importance of maintaining the current leadership to ensure continued freedom of worship in the country.

Bugingo highlighted the privileges enjoyed under Museveni’s administration, stating, “We have freedom of worship; we can praise and spend the whole night in our churches without any obstacles! Museveni should rule for many more years.” His remarks reflect a belief that stable leadership is crucial for the flourishing of faith communities.

In his sermon, Bugingo also criticized local authorities for their role in demolishing places of worship while allegedly protecting other religious shrines.

He remarked, “The fountain of honor can protect religious institutions, but an LC chairperson will order the demolition of a church! This is the environment we’re living in.” His comments underscore a perceived disconnect between national and local governance regarding the treatment of religious sites.

Future leadership aspirations

Looking ahead, Bugingo expressed support for General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, suggesting that followers should consider him as a potential leader after Museveni’s retirement. “I request you to vote for Gen Muhoozi after President Museveni retires,” he stated, indicating his belief in a continued legacy of leadership in the country.

In a bold statement, Pastor Bugingo declared his intention to pray for the downfall of leaders who threaten places of worship, reflecting deep concerns about the current climate for religious institutions.

His passionate plea resonates with many who feel that the sanctity of worship should be protected.

These statements come at a time when President Museveni faces criticism from opposition parties for engaging in early campaigning and for allegedly grooming his son as a potential successor.

Bugingo’s endorsement adds another layer to the evolving political landscape as the country approaches the general elections.
