Vocal city church preacher Pastor Martin Ssempa has called out telecommunications company, MTN for their sexualized Gaga advert. The company recently released a promotional advert for one of its service campaigns known as Gaga Bundles.
However, in this video, the occupants are seen thrusting their pelvises. This is a thing the Pastor has said that is not good for the young population in the country.
According to his argument, MTN has downtrodden itself to a path of self-destruction. However, he hailed the company as one of those brands that has, over the years, created some of the best and most memorable adverts suitable for all audiences.
These include; the famous ‘Bosco Katala’ advert, Mr. Google Sir, etc. Therefore, seeing them with such an advert for the Gaga Bundles is a disgrace.
Pastor Martin Ssempa argued that most of these adverts are played on national televisions and the kids are therefore bound to imitate them. As a brand operating in Uganda, it’s a social responsibility for MTN to care about the impact of the message they send to the viewers.
For the sake of their own brand and the youths, Pastor Ssempa implored MTN to retract this advert as soon as possible. They can create another one that does not have sexual movements in it.
Read his statement below;
“As a long-term friend and client of MTN Uganda, I’m so much disappointed in the brand with their latest advert for Gaga Bundles. There is nothing creative in it apart from a bunch of people thrusting their pelvises in a sexual way. MTN has always created memorable adverts suitable for all audiences. I therefore implore them to retract this advert because it’s a social responsibility to them too to be mindful of what they feed the public.”
The Pastor had the majority of his followers agreeing with him on this. Meanwhile, MTN is yet to respond to these remarks.
