She says they quickly identify anyone who is not talking for the president as the enemy of the country. In actual sense though, Kiiza says for reconciliation to happen as it should, people need to be allowed to talk.
“There has never been a system where Ugandans talk. A system that deals with reconciliation. Patriotism today means paying allegiance to Museveni. Let’s create systems that will work for all Ugandans. As a country, we need to talk. We need a system that will enable us to speak. We need a place to resolve this hurt.”
Apparently, there is a lot of inequality in the country which the government has failed to deal with. Some people according to her feel more privileged than others but no one wants this to be talked about.
Some members of the public agreed to this and in fact said most feel entitled.
“Not just privileged but also too much entitled. We went to the bush. I lost an eye. We’re the true patriots. We liberated you. We have done much, we are heroes bula bula bula……. too much entitled. The entitled is inherited even by their offsprings, grandchildren and relatives,” a one Odong Isaac Jeje said.
Meanwhile, Kiiza congratulated generals who were able to retire. Fallen Gen, Elly Tumwiine was supposed to be among these but unfortunately, he passed on.
