Paving Way For Cricket Glory: Uganda’s Journey In 2024 And Beyond

Uganda Cricket’s 2024 successes were rooted in the solid foundation laid in the preceding year of 2023. The Cricket Cranes and the Victoria Pearls showcased their prowess on the international stage, setting the stage for future achievements.

The Cricket Cranes’ debut at the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies marked a significant milestone.

Despite facing formidable opponents, the team’s victory against PNG and standout performances by players like Riazat Ali Shah and Frank Nsubuga highlighted Uganda’s growing presence in the cricketing world.

The Victoria Pearls faced challenges in 2024, but their victory in the Kwibuka tournament in Kigali displayed their resilience. With a young squad seeking international exposure, the team’s determination shone through, paving the way for future success.

Local triumphs and new champions

On the domestic front, Kutchi Tigers and Wanderers emerged as champions in the men’s league competitions, signaling a shift in the cricketing landscape.

Soroti City’s victory in the Women’s T20 League underscored the growing competitiveness in Ugandan cricket.

Individual accolades were bestowed upon standout performers, with Riazat Ali Shah named Cricket of the Year. Alpesh Ramjani and Rita Musamali were honored as the male and female cricketers of the Year, respectively, at the prestigious annual awards ceremony.
