People Are Going To Continue Crossing Over To NRM, Senyonyi Explains Gogonyo Saga

NUP Spokesperson, Joel Senyonyi, has explained what could have caused the Gogonyo saga. Gogonyo county in Pallisa district has been in the news the whole of this week after candidates withdrew from the race leaving NRM’s Orone to stand alone. At the beginning of the nominations for the by elections, every party was geared up and infact FDC laid back so as to support NUP.

Unfortunately, the candidates without giving reasons decided to withdraw from the nominations whose elections were supposed to be today. However, Senyonyi says what the candidates did was first of all against constitution that governs parties.

“When you are a party flag bearer, only the party can withdraw you from the race according to the Act that superintends over parliamentary elections.”

However, he said it will not be a surprise if these candidates have crossed over to NRM. He added that people are going to continue crossing over because Mr Museveni does not have any ideas anymore. All he can do now is to continuously buy off people.

“Museveni does not have any idea on how to fix this country. He would rather buy those who are speaking against the ills and whatever evil is going on as opposed to fixing those issues,” he added.

However, some members of the public have come up to say NUP should probably be more clear to them on what their agenda is.

“I think this NUP n Joel should be sincere. Actually, every time Joel is speaking on this NUP thing, I just see a comic doing his work in theater. NUP has not produced any diplomat but wants to recruit from other people n take them to parliament. This is not football transfer window,” a one Oscar Barigye said.
