Pep Guardiola Agrees To Contract Extension With Manchester City

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has agreed to a contract extension with the club. The Spaniard’s contract was running out in the 2025 summer but he has now agreed to a one-year extension. This will keep him at the Etihad until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Despite rumors that his tenure at the club is nearing the end, the club never spoke with any other manager. They were always confident of keeping him for at least one more year.

Some of the names linked with City included Bayern Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and new Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim.

“Pep Guardiola has agreed to stay at Manchester City for one more season! New contract to be valid until June 2026, as @SamLee reports — with an option to extend until June 2027. As revealed in October, City was always confident to keep Pep — never spoke to other coaches.”

It should be recalled that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager joined the Citizens in 2016 and has been hugely successful.

Guardiola has won a combined 18 trophies including six Premier League Titles, four of which were consecutive, an EPL record. He’s also won the UEFA Champions League and has turned the club into a European and global powerhouse.

City who have started this season poorly will be hoping to rejuvenate their campaign as club football returns this weekend.

The club will be hosting Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday. They are currently five points adrift of the top spot occupied by Liverpool.
