English Premier League champions Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that midfielder; Kevin De Bryune will stay with the Citizens for the upcoming season.
This is after rumors had been strongly linking the Belgian to Saudi Pro League side, Al-Ittihad.
A few weeks ago, KDB as he is known said that he would be open to making the move across the Middle East. He added that the enormous money there is indeed a temptation. And he feels like he has achieved everything in England.
Since then, there has been uncertainty about the 33-year-old’s future.
It was further reported that Al-Ittihad is already in negotiations with the footballer to make a permanent switch for the upcoming season. Guardiola has however shut down the rumors.
He said that his vice-captain will play his football at the Etihad for the upcoming season. This was branded as fake news from a credible source.
“Pep Guardiola has just confirmed that Kevin de Bruyne will NOT sign for Saudi Pro League this summer. “No, Kevin is NOT leaving”, Pep says. Fake news, as clarified yesterday.”
Kevin De Bruyne has been the main engine of Guardiola’s side for the past couple of seasons. The team has won a Champions League title and 6 Premier League titles in just 8 seasons of the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager’s tenure.
However, Al-Ittihad continues its negotiations with City’s Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Morales. These talks are concrete and the clubs are said to be negotiating a fee in the region of 50m Euros.
The Brazilian has already agreed personal terms with the Saudi Pro League side. This club has footballers such as Karim Benzema and N’golo Kante among others.
