Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is not happy with the club’s striker, Julian Alvarez after the striker’s remarks about limited game time. The Argentinean has been one of the club’s most crucial players since his signing two and a half years ago from River Plate.
However, his help has mainly come from the bench as he has to compete with Erling Halaand in the center-forward role.
Most of the time, he’s had to fill in for an injured player or come in as a substitute. It was last season that he played a couple of games due to the absence of Kevin De Bruyne.
However, when the Belgian returned from injury, the 24-year-old was confined to the bench once again. This has created rumors that he might be looking for an exit from Etihad for increased game time.
The 2022 World Cup winner who is currently on international duty with Argentina in the 2024 Paris Olympics was asked about his future.
He said that he is going to think about it. According to the player, he was one of the players who got less minutes last season. But he was left out of the crucial games and that’s not what any footballer wants.
Here is what his manager’s thinks;
His manager on learning these remarks didn’t seem happy at all. The Spaniard said that he doesn’t understand what the striker means by wanting to play more yet he’s one of those who had increased game time last season.
“I read that he’s going to think about it. Ok, think about it… then he will inform us what he wants to do”. “Julián played a lot. He wants more? It’s fine. So that’s why… think about it. And when he thinks about it, he will inform us”.
Alvarez, meanwhile, said that he would talk about his future with the current EPL champions after the Olympics.
