The operation in which a number of suspects were cracked down, was directed by Kafeero Kabugo who’s the current Commissioner of Police and Kampala Metropolitan Police commander.

Kabugo alongside his deputy ACP, Namuwooza Denis and additional commanders launched a 1 week crack down on traffic jam robbers, which made 1,300 suspects to be arrested in one night, according to Nile Post.

We made this operation after getting numerous complaints from both the drivers and pedestrians, mainly during busiest hours like in the evenings,’’said Kabugo.

These criminals target traffic jam!

There has been several complaints from the public about these lawbreakers who always target traffic jam sessions to be able to snatch cell phones, women bags, wallets, laptops and many other valuables from passengers, drivers and pedestrians.

According to Kabugo, some criminals move in corridors with knives and other rough weapons targeting pedestrians. Criminals of that kind will be removed out of Kampala city through our day and night operations.
