The dog successfully traced the criminals and recovered property. Some of the property includes electric wires that had been stolen from the home of Mr. Wamasali Simon, a resident of Bugabe village.
Mr. Wamasali revealed that to his surprise, the dog K9 could find his property. He said he could not think that his neighbors could be part of the incident.
In another case, a one Mafabi claimed his timber had been stolen. Officers then introduced the dog at the scene of the crime, and it led them to the home of Mr. Wanendeye Rasid about 150m away. Police recovered exhibits and arrested the suspect.
On various occasions, police dogs fail to trace criminals.
However, the K9 of Sironko has proved the importance of police dogs in cracking down on criminality. Especially if they manage the scenes of crime well.
Meanwhile in Kampala, and in recent times, following intense operations on the Northern Bypass with the aim of clamping down on thugs, criminals have shifted to villages near the Northern Bypass.
Joint task teams of the police and UPDF on Tuesday (01.02.2022) carried out an intelligence-led operation in areas of Gaza, which is located in Mabito.
According to Police, the village is a known hiding place for suspected criminals terrorizing Nateete, Busega, and Kampala areas.
Earlier in Feb, Police arrested some 90 suspects and detained them at Nateete Police Station. The suspects have been engaging in crimes like phone theft during rush hours, burglary, and aggravated robbery.
These thugs stab some of their victims and assault them before robbing off their property.
