Police FC, Vipers FC Seek For Final Slot

After the second nation-wide lock down, local football has finally made its comeback. Police FC will face Vipers FC in the first semi-final clash of the 2021 Stanbic Uganda Cup at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

The game will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Before the lock down, both teams had progressed well and the tournament that has happened since 1971 had reached the semi-final stage.

Besides the teams’ rustiness due to prolonged inactivity, both sides are ready to face-off to see who will progress.

At the press conference held on Monday at the FUFA House in Mengo, head coach Abdallah Mubiru represented Police. The Vipers assistant coach, Marcelo Cardoso represented his team.

For Police to qualify for the semis, they had to eliminate Wakiso Giants. Vipers dumped UPDF over the two legs during the quarter finals.

The second semi-final will be played between the reigning league champions Express and BUL.

The game will take place on Thursday, September 23, 2021 and it will also be played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

Kick off for the two matches will be at 3:30 pm with the national broadcaster, UBC TV showing the games live ahead of Sunday’s finale.

It is going to be a battle of tactics between the two respective technical teams. A real litmus test for Brazilian tactician Roberto Oliviera in his first competitive game for the Venoms.
