Police Following Leads On Thugs Who Attached Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu

The police have obtained credible information about the Boda Boda cyclists that hit Chief Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu unconscious. The thugs hit her over the weekend with an intention of making a getaway with her bag at Greenhill Academy on Mbogo Road.

Ms. Kamasanyu had apparently gone to the school to pick her child’s Primary Leaving Examination slip on Saturday when the incident happened.

They admitted her to International Hospital Kampala after the thugs rendered her unconscious.

The area has police CCTV cameras mounted 50 meters away from the scene on both sides. Reports say the cameras both captured the cyclists riding to the scene according to a police source.

‘’It should be in the suspects’ advantage to report themselves to the police immediately with the stolen bag and its content and the motorcycles they used in the robbery rather than for us picking them,’’ the source said.

What the police report says;

A police report said by the time the school’s security detail came to rescue the Magistrate, the thugs had already fled the scene. The school guards were apparently stationed inside the gate hence the delay to respond to the robbery.

Efforts to get a comment from the school management were impossible at the time as their mobile phones were switched off.

Both the school and their neighboring company, Multiple Industries Limited have no CCTV cameras at their entrances.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire couldn’t confirm if the police know the suspects particularly. He, however, said their investigations into the attack are yielding positive results.

‘’The detectives have told me that they have good leads. Our main objective now is to arrest the suspects. We are proceeding well to meeting our objective.’’ Mr. Owoyesigyire said.
