The regional police spokesperson, Longole Mike, said they received information that there were people changing sugar. The anonymous tip said the store gets sugar from the Mayuge sugar factory, unpack it and repack it into Kenyan sacks.
‘’After receiving information, the OC station Moroto booked out with his team. He proceeded to the said place and upon arrival, they found the sugar in the store being changes into Kenyan sacks,’’ he said.
Apparently, the suspects get the sugar from the Mayuge sugar factory. They then transport it to their store and change it into Kenyan sacks. The Kenyan sacks are from Kabaras Sugar factory.
The police found a total of 250 sacks of sugar in the store, a generator, and a machine used for sealing the sacks.
Longole said they have since deployed policemen to safeguard the store and also informed Uganda Revenue Authority on the incident.

Reports claim that the UKI Hand Sanitizer’ were stopped to continue processing by the UNBS at the time of making checkups of unlawful sanitizers on the market. Many business persons were using the opportunity to make a lot of money in the abrupt business caused by the deadly COVID19.
