Nabbanja told the envoy that Uganda has an enabling environment for investment in tourism, education, health among other sectors. She attributed this to the prevailing peace and infrastructure in the country.
‘’Uganda has an enabling environment for investors and as a government, we offer subsidies to investors so that they can set up industries or factories to create jobs for our people,’’ said Nabbanja.
She further said the president of Uganda has directed that power costs be reduced to five percent per unit cost of electricity for industries.
This will enable the country to have more investors setting up industries here.
The PM thanked the government of UAE for partnering with Uganda Airlines to enable direct flights from Uganda to Dubai. This has also strengthened the bilateral relations between the two countries.
On a sad note, Nabbanja expressed concern about the Ugandans that are mistreated in Arab countries with some losing body organs.
‘’It is painful for a person to go for work but only to lose his/her organ of the body and as government, we appeal to Arab states to ensure the safety of our people,’’ she said.
On his part, Alshamsi said that UAE is ready to invest in Uganda and a team of experts will be coming to Uganda next week. They will be laying grounds to start investments in the health sector.
The PM and the UAE ambassador also exchanged gifts to show a good working relationship between the two countries.
Alshamsi said that the ill-treatment of Ugandans in Arab countries is very regrettable. However, he said that UAE is very hospitable and cannot entertain such inhuman acts.
