‘’I wanted to tell you that after presenting a fever record of 37.3 degrees Celsius and a slight headache, I performed a test whose results was positive,’’ said the president.
Alberto Fernandez just turned 62 on Friday and he said that although he is awaiting confirmation, he had already gone to self-quarantine. He said he is complying with the current protocol and following the instructions of his personal doctor.
President Fernandez said that he is ‘’physically well’’ although he said he would have wished to end his birthday with better news than this. He, however, is in good spirits.
‘’We must be very vigilant. I ask everyone to take care of themselves by following the current recommendations. It is evident that the pandemic did not pass and we must continue to take care of ourselves,’’ the president added.
This has raised more questions about the Russian SputnikV Covid-19 vaccine. On January 21, the President received his first dose of the vaccine. Later, on February 11, he received the second and final dose of the vaccine, which has clearly not protected him against the virus.
On Friday, Argentina registered 9,902 new covid-19 cases. This brought the national tally to 2,373,153 total cases according to the country’s health minister. They also recorded 82 more deaths as a result of the virus, bringing the nationwide death toll to 56,023.
Over 2.3 million people have so far recovered from the virus.
