President Museveni took to the State of the Nation Address to reveal that he had tested positive for COVID-19. According to Museveni, he felt a cold in the morning of Wednesday, 7th June, 2023. He decided to take a rapid corona virus test which turned out negative.
However, he decided to take two more tests with deeper analysis. One turned out negative while another was positive. Currently, he is therefore a suspect of COVID-19. It is for this reason that he went to Kololo Ceremonial Grounds for the address in a different car from his wife’s.
“This morning, I was feeling as if I had a cold. I took a rapid Coronavirus test which indicated negative. I did two more tests with deeper analysis. One of them turned out positive, the other was negative. So, I am a suspect of Corona as I speak. That’s why I came in a separate car with Maama,” said Museveni.
Since the emergence of this virus, Museveni has been extra careful with his health. Even when he got vaccinated, the President has always made sure to take cautions in a bid not to acquire it.
He is ever wearing his face mask and also sits meters apart with his audience.
Among other topics, President Museveni also talked about was the homosexuality saga.
He recently signed the anti-gay bill into law. This has created a lot of commotion both locally and internationally.
Prior to what most locals had interpreted the law for, Museveni said that a homosexual won’t be punished if they keep the habit to themselves.
Additionally, he said that “Merely being [homosexual] is your personal problem but promoting and raping is criminal and will lead you to being imprisoned and a deaths sentence respectively.”
