Goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre Emerick Aubameyanga and Bukayo Saka inside the first half were enough to hand Mikel Arteta’s side the win despite a second-half consolation from Spurs’ Heung Min Son.
Kagame took to his Twitter page to congratulate everyone from the fans to the players and manager.
“Credit to where it is due…Congrats Arsenal, manager, players, and greatly… fans!!! Everything came very much alive today. All the best every game…Brilliant!!” Kagame tweeted.
The Rwandese president was furious a few weeks ago when the team he supports put in a number of lackluster performances.
Kagame said that the team had become a laughing stock and no longer the force it was. He went ahead to say that a football team is built to win games and not the opposite.
However, Arsenal instead of being surprised that it has failed to win, it had become a surprise when it wins a game according to Kagame.
His sentiments were shared by almost every fan then as the team was sinking under. Arteta who has been under pressure has however managed to turn the results around somehow much to the delight of the fans.
The Gunners who were in the relegation zone after losing three matches consecutively now lie in 10th after winning three games on the bounce.
President Kagame had every right to be angry because Rwanda is one of the sponsors of the club. Arsenal has a ‘Visit Rwanda’ logo on their sleeves, a thing that has helped them to boost their tourism industry.
Meanwhile the club and fans all spent the rest of Sunday in a celebratory mood. They will delve in it for the rest of the week.
