She however changed this and currently, it gives out colored iron sheets. This left people buzzing about how she was shameless to list this as an achievement.
It should be noted that there is currently a saga of how iron sheets meant to be given for relief to people in Karamoja were stolen.
These were diverted by the Karamoja Affairs Minister, Ms Garretti Kitutu. A number of beneficiaries have now been listed and they include former Speaker, Hon Rebecca Kadaga.
Also Nabbanja was cited among these and accused of using them to build her hotels. She however disputed this and said that she built her hotels many years ago.
She added that they are going to carry out investigations to find out if there are any missing iron sheets.
“Before I came to this office, the office of the Prime Minister was giving out white iron sheets. When I came into office, I made sure I gave out colored iron sheets to distinguish them.”
“Saying I used government iron sheets on my hotels isn’t right. I built my first hotel in 2003 and another in 2009. Some Iron sheets that were supposed to be taken to the people were delivered. We are investigating the cases where iron sheets didn’t reach the people.”
Nabbanja further added that no one can mess with Karamoja projects under President Museveni’s watch. This is because he loves the region so much and has done many projects asides from the ones that are coming up.
Furthermore, Nabbanja added that her office has a problem of laxity when it comes to disaster preparedness. This is after the President wrote a letter to her office asking her how prepared they are for disasters such as earthquakes.
As a government official, Nabbanja was asked whether there were negotiations to secure the bail release of MPs, Ssewanyana, and Ssegirinya. The Prime Minister said that she doesn’t think there was any.
