Veteran singer and media personality Rebecca Jjingo has revealed that the late Kato Lubwama saved her life and was influential in it. It should be noted that the deceased comedian was a very influential figure in the arts industry.
He helped in mentoring lots of current musicians, actors and media personalities. Rebecca Jjingo happens to be one of those.
She said that at one point she felt her journey had hit a dead end. However, God intervened, and this was Kato Lubwama. The Diamond Ensembles boss not only introduced her to music but also to radio.
She doesn’t know how life would have turned out for her if she had remained at her home in Kansanga. However, God used the late dramatist to open doors for her.
“There are times when you feel like your journey has reached a dead-end, but in those moments, God intervenes. To show that God had a hand in my life, He brought Kato Lubwama to me. He not only introduced me to music but also connected me to the radio. How could I have entered the fields of media or music if I had remained confined to Kansanga? God used Kato Lubwama to open doors for me,” said Rebecca Jjingo.
Apparently, the two met in 1999 when Jjingo was in her form 6 vacation. She said that the late treated her like a little girl she was. He helped her record her first song for free and this wasn’t just it. She would record more songs all for free.
The Beat FM presenter added that she really misses the late Rubaga South MP. Besides, she wished he was still alive so that she could convey her gratitude to him.
