Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has Tuesday granted bail to RedPepper Publications directors and editors.

The eight were arrested on November were each released on a Shs 20million non cash bail, while their sureties were also placed on a Shs 20 million court bond each.
The suspects have been on remand at Luzira Prison since November this year on charges of Libel, for “Disturbing the Peace of President Museveni,”.
This was their third time to apply for bail after two failed attempts where prosecution asked court not to release them, arguing that they “lacked fixed places of abode within the jurisdiction of this court.”
The suspects who include Directors James Mujuni, Richard Tusiime, Johnson Musinguzi, Patrick Mugumya, Arinatiwe Rugyendo and editors Richard Kintu, Ben Byarabaha and Francis Tumusiime, have been ordered to return to court on January 19th, 2018.
