Bobi Wine has questioned the possibility of Justice Owiny Dollo ever standing before first Prime Minister and former Chief Justice, Ben Kiwanuka.
A memorial mass was held at Rubaga Cathedral to mark the 50th anniversary since Chief Justice Benedicto Kiwanuka was murdered in 1972 during Amin’s regime. Bobi Wine wondered if Justice Dollo can ever look Ben Kiwanuka in the eye.
“In presence was current Chief Justice Mr. Owiny Dollo. Like every body else, Mr. Dollo praised Ben Kiwanuka for standing by the values of Truth and Justice. This he had to pay with his life after granting bail to a prisoner against the illegal orders of President Iddi Amin.”
“I wondered if Mr. Dollo would have the guts to look Kiwanuka in the eye if he were alive today. Considering the Dollo-led Judiciary’s complicity in the oppression of citizens by the regime which uses the judiciary as another tool of oppression,” he added.
Kiwanuka was murdered on the orders of then president, Idi Amin. A number of reports indicate that he was abducted from his chambers at the High Court in Kampala.
They dumped him into a waiting car and taken to an unknown place. Till today, his body has never been found.
