The locals who planted a sign post indicating the road named after Hon Abiriga, said he was truly a kind and generous person, therefore, he deserves a remembrance.
The local people who gathered at the mosque on Friday where the late used to pray from, organized a parade as a remembrance and honoring him for whatever good thing he did for the Village. In fact, he was one of the Village mates, according to Nile Post.
Abiriga Memorial road was finally named!
As a sign of remembrance, we decided to name this road ( ABIRIGA MEMORIAL ROAD ) after him and also subsidize for his services towards his village and country as a whole, ‘according to the former councillor / moblizer of the group, Mr Casmoto Mutebi.
Abiriga and his bodyguard were killed on this same road.
On 8th June, Abiriga was shot dead together with his bodyguard by the names of Konge Saidi who was reportedly said to be his brother. They were killed by unknown asassins in about 200 metres from his home.
During a parliamentary sitting to honoring Abiriga, MPs described him as someone who truly loved his country and as a uniting factor.
Abiriga was someone who would easily joke with anyone even if you abuse him, and president Museveni himself wondered why people decided to take his life
On 12th June, Abiriga was buried at his home Village of Lukudu Eramya in Arua district.
