Ronald Alimpa, The “Lusuku Lwa Seminti” Hitmaker Indicted In Another Song Theft Incident

The latest news indicates that “Lusuku lwa seminti’ hit maker Ronald Alimpa has been indicted in another song theft. It should be recalled that the singer gained fame after re-doing Radio and Weasel’s African Time song.

Alimpa in his song titled Sean Don almost went word for word as Radio and Weasel’s song. Although he popularized the song since the Goodlyf’s was hardly known, he didn’t have consent from Weasel the surviving member of Goodlyf.

Weasel also declined to press charges and said that he should be left alone to make ends meet. And he really indeed reaped a lot from this song and he’s still riding high on it.

However, the owner of the latest song he copied and pasted seems like he won’t let him off the hook easily. This is because they are all hardly known artists trying to survive.

The artiste indicting Alimpa is known as Baby Jay and he released his version of the song titled ‘Kabaka antumye’ in 2017. 5 years later, Alimpa has released a version of his with the words unchanged and the beat almost the same.

When Ronald Alimpa was contacted, he said that his management brings him the songs he sings. Yet at some point a while ago he claimed to write his own songs.

When they asked about this song, Alimpa said that nobody has contacted him claiming it. And if there is anyone that has issues with it, they should look for him and talk.

“Nobody has contacted me about this particular song. If anyone has an issue, they should look for me because I am traceable. Besides, it’s my management that brings me songs that I sing. I however wrote this particular song,” Alimpa said.

The producer who made Alimpa’s version said that the Sean Don singer claimed to have written the song himself. He came into the studio and made a few corrections to the lyrics and proceeded to record.

He however has no idea about the other version of the same song.

For the producer that made the earlier version for Baby Jay, he said that everything is the same from the lyrics to the instrumentals.

Well, song forgery is not something new in the country as a number of artists have thrived off of it. It’s no wonder that artists are pushing so hard for the copyright law to come into full effect.
