He said these days it is very easy to have a hit song because of social media platforms but it is hard to keep releasing songs to even make a successful career.
In Uganda, there are some artists who have risen to fame just because of one song. After that, they just disappear and people forget about them and the song.
There are other musicians who have had successful careers with many songs but have got to a point where they can’t maintain it. According to Ronald Mayinja, artists need to learn the basics like discipline and respect for the people they find in the industry.
The singer also talked about the quality of the music industry as some musicians have gone to vulgarity thinking it is going to catch people’s attention.
Mayinja said upcoming musicians need to understand that having a long successful music career needs some work. It is not just to wait and find everything done for them.
“Making music is one thing, but managing it successfully is another. We need to empower the young generation to keep up with the latest trends and technologies. Quality music, discipline and respect should be a must,”he said.
It should be noted that Mayinja himself has failed to maintain his music career at a level considered successful for long. He’s been on and off in recent times that many even consider him faded.
