UCU Lady Canons ‘ Rose Akon turned the game around when she registered 19 points and 26 rebounds to win the game in overtime. Hamada Najjuko scored 12 for UCU who looked like they were headed down the drain after dropping the first quarter 30-8.
They however returned the favor in the second quarter, scoring 20-6.
Sharon Kirabo from KIU Rangers registered a game-high of 20 points and her teammates Peruth Nyamwenge and Patricia Nakiru scored 14 and 10 respectively.
This contest will open the Rangers’ old wounds of endless defeat to UCU Lady Canons and other top teams in the division.
Yesterday happened to be the only chance for the Rangers to beat the Lady Canons. They came into the game looking like the stronger team with four victories in four games.
However, despite the good start, the Rangers failed to inflict pain on their perennial nemeses when they lost by just 1 point.
In other news, Ekon Brenda scored a game high of 31 points as the table leading JKL Dolphins beat the Nkumba Lady Marines 84-37. The Dolphins have so far registered five wins for five games this season.
Stella Oyela and Hope Akello had 16 and 10 points respectively for JKL while Shadia Mbwali led Nkumba with 16 points.
