Rotary Signs Memorandum To Boost Enterprise Development

In a bid to support youth enhance their enterprises, Rotary has signed memorandum of understanding with Rugby Union.

The three programme dubbed Enterprise development and mind-Set Change seeks to recognize the challenges of youth unemployment and the challenges youth face in securing opportunities to fulfill their potential when they retire from active sports.

Rotary Waggwa Nsibirwa Rotary District Governor said rotary is inspired by the desire to empower youth and create social impact through excellent delivery of youth programs, the existing friendly relations and cooperation between the two parties.

“The MoU shall provide the framework within which detailed proposals for programmes of cooperation between the Parties in the fields of sports and youth development and excellence are to be jointly considered on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit,”he said.

“The parties shall endeavor to encourage and facilitate, as appropriate, the advancement of linkages and cooperation between and through the agencies that pertain to the fields of sports and youth affairs of the respective parties and shall endeavor to conclude such arrangements, for the conducting of cooperative activities and programmes in these fields of enterprise development, “Nsibirwa added.

According to Nsibirwa, the Parties shall encourage and promote exchange of programmes, experiences, skills, techniques, information and knowledge, in the following matters, training and competitions of athletes and athletic teams, have sports exchange programs within and across the borders and vocational skills to youth.

” We want to develop sports as a mainstream career option via training, exchange and attachment programmes in the areas of coach education, curriculum development, sports education, sports management and sports infrastructure development and management,” he stressed.

He said they intend to have training and exchange programs in entrepreneurship and technology (digital and vocational) to transfer demanded skills to youth and make them more relevant to the job market

The Parties  also agreed to execute Enterprise Development and Mind-Set Change Program ie sports Activities and Competitions, Entrepreneurship, Vocational Training and Exchange Programs, and Community Building and Festivals.

According to MOU, the parties agreed to jointly raise funding and resources for the programs via membership, events, sponsorships and other innovative means as mutually agreed.

The Parties agree to mutually develop and jointly fund a credible, marketing plan to ensure the program attracts credible partners and funding by way of sponsorship and other creative means of raising resources

Rhinos assistant coach Timothy Bulooti challenged players to embrace entrepreneurship to that they create sustainable incomes for their families and future when they retire from active sports.

“Our vision is to have every youth running a sustainable enterprise or being gainfully employed.we look at creating opportunities where youth start, grow and sustain their enterprises while enabling those seeking employment to become professional and productive,”Bulooti explained.
