At this particular time, the gap has stretched to two and three points from Heathens and Kobs respectively.
Pirates went through 80 minutes of long and untidy rugby against Toyota Buffaloes on a soggy Kyadondo turf. The game ended 21-3 in the Pirates’ favor despite failing to secure the all-important bonus point.
In the second half, the Pirates had two tries from Timothy Odongo and Eric Mulamula. This left them with a chance at the bonus point with just one more try but the Buffaloes held their own.
Daniel Katerega’s penalty and two from Ivan Magomu saw the game rest at 3-6 before the tries came.
“A tough game and we are gutted we did not get the bonus point but we shall take the win. It keeps us in the race as we take each game as it comes,” Pirates captain Ivan Magomu told the press.
The Kobs and Heathens registered wins in their games against Hippos and Rhinos, registering bonus points as well.
As for Impis, they completed the double over Rams in the Makerere derby with a 5-11 win. Robert Sentongo’s two penalties helped Impis end their four-match losing streak.
Rams are still searching for their first win of the season as they currently sit bottom of the table.
