Russian Minister of Defence Andrei Belousov and his US counterpart Lloyd Austin had a significant phone conversation on Tuesday to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as confirmed by Moscow’s defense ministry.
During the call, the Ministers shared their perspectives on the current state of affairs surrounding Ukraine. The statement released by the ministry highlighted that the conversation was initiated by the American side.
Minister Belousov underscored the potential danger of further escalation, specifically mentioning the ongoing supply of US weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The discussion also encompassed other pertinent matters.
Importance of communication emphasized
The Pentagon also acknowledged the phone call, emphasizing the importance of maintaining open lines of communication amidst Russia’s continued war against Ukraine.

Authorization for US weapons usage
Tensions have been mounting between Russia and the United States due to America’s ongoing military support for Ukraine.
Recently, Washington granted Kyiv permission to utilize long-range US weapons in areas of Russia near the besieged city of Kharkiv. Russia has strongly criticized the United States for these actions.
On Monday, the Kremlin issued a warning to the United States, summoning its ambassador after Moscow claimed that a Ukrainian missile strike with US involvement in Crimea resulted in the deaths of four individuals. The situation continues to add strain to the already tense relations between the two nations.
