Ruth Nankabirwa has filed a forma;l complaint against Rebecca Kadaga just hours after NRM secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba announcing that Kadaga will face disciplinary action if a formal complaint is lodged against her.
The former government chief whip believes that what the former speaker and second NRM national vice chairperson did was an act of impunity.
“My intuition is telling me that what happened cannot be just left like that. The whole country was waiting to see if it’s business as usual. It’s all about party not individualism. It’s about party because it’s a mass party.” Nankabirwa addressed the media.
Nankabirwa however might not have lodged the complaint in good faith but to have her go at the former speaker. The two used to have sharp differences that manifested during plenary sittings. Nankabirwa accused Kadaga at one time of leading the house to the wrong direction.
Nankabirwa who lost her Kiboga woman MP seat added that the government’s priority will be directed towards accessing private land before compensation. This means amending article 26 of the constitution which parliament rejected.
“Government will have to acquire private land. But this will come before compensation. This is because there are usually disagreements between the government valuer and the landlord. This usually makes the landlord to refuse to vacate when the project is already underway.” Nankabirwa added
Nankabirwa has been in parliament for 27 years and a minister since 1998 prior to losing her seat.
