Veteran singer Sarah Zawedde has revealed why she quit mainstream music. The singer made a name for herself in the mid 2000s as she released a couple of good songs. However, she then vanished off the stage like any other musician for different reasons. For her case however, it was due to the emergence of modern-day music.
She said that whereas these singers are talented, some don’t give their music the necessary details. They are all after being commercial.
She, therefore, decided to take a step away from the mainstream industry and concentrate on something she loves doing. And since she loves soulful music, she decided to form a band. This came from her name, and it’s known as Zawi band. They usually perform at corporate and high-end events.
She further narrated that when she emerged on the scene, it was band music that was earning. The likes of Stecia Mayanja, Catherine Kusasira, Phoebe Nassolo, Mariam Ndagire were the big guns on the scene.
Besides, the Kambere Nawe singer added that she came from the 2003 Coca-Cola Pop Stars. This is the one that produced the original Blu 3 group that consisted of Cindy, Lilian Mbabazi and Jackie Chandiru. By then, Zawedde hadn’t figured out what to do. But an album written for her by Sliver Kyagulanyi set the ground running for her.
