SC Villa will make a short trip to the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in a second leg match against Wakiso Giants today. They will hope to go into the game with revenge on their minds for the first round defeat at home.
In the first game, Ibrahim Kasule and Shariph Kimbowa scored the goals for Wakiso Giants at Wankulukuku. Later on, Seif Batte scored the only consolation goal for Villa to swallow the defeat at home.
After the game, Villa fans turned chaotic and catapulted stones to the Wakiso Giants officials. This left some of the officials like the team doctor injured, something FUFA did not appreciate.
The Ugandan football body consequently subjected SC Villa to punishment for the actions of their fans. They were banned from playing at home for five whole home games. They have since been hosting their home games in Lira.
Villa, however, go into the game in a good form, leading the table with 40 points. However, for the Purple Sharks, it is the total opposite following a winless run since the start of the second round.
In the last few months, Wakiso Giants have had a number of injuries on some of their star players. However, though, they could have Moses Aliro back after he missed a couple outings due to injury.
“The fixture against a big team like Villa is one players want to show character and belief and am optimistic of a good show and result,” said Wakiso Giants coach John Luyinda.
This fixture promises to have fireworks since both teams have won twice and drawn once in the last five meetings.
If they win, Villa will extend their lead at the top by six points ahead of second-placed KCCA who play UPDF on Sunday at Lugogo.
