School Teacher Whips School Boy Till Death

News coming in this morning indicate how police in Kisolo District are hunting for a school teacher responsible for the death of an 11 year old pupil.

The teacher who works at Mutolera Primary School hit Dan Gasore on the head and back with a Caine from which he sustained multiple injuries that led to his death.

According to police spokesperson Fred Enaga ,he told our media that the teacher whipped the pupil for failing to do class work.

…the teacher was saying that the boy had failed to comprehend what he was teaching and because of that he had to use a stick as a form of punishment so you can see that it resulted in an incident of murder of which is on the run but we are going to try as much as possible to halt his arrest and charges to court,”he said.

However in Uganda corporal punishment has a sentence for crime outlawed by the Supreme Court in 1999 its prohibited in article 94 of the Children Act .

In addition, according to the 2018 National Survey on violence against children, 75% of the children were reported being beaten in class.

However there was also another incident last year where the Mukono Chief Magistrate Court convicted and fined school heads of Our Lady of Africa Shs 2.1 million for caning of a senior one student.
