Schools, Churches and public gatherings have been halted for 42 days. As a measure to curb the fast spreading covid virus, Museveni has announced the closure of some sectors of the country.
He said this while addressing the nation on the status of covid. The decision to close schools especially has come after so many schools registered covid cases to the point that some closed down.
As for Churches, it is just communal prayers that have been stopped. Otherwise, the president says he encourages on line prayers because it is safe. He even went ahead and asked himself why churches were in a hurry to open.
He brushed about his daughter who followed his advice of online church that she has been doing since last year.
In addition to the above also inter-district travel has been banned for 42 days starting 10th of June. He says this is to enable school children travel back to their homes but after that, no cars are expected to move from one district to another.
He has left transport within the districts to operate under supervision. However he has warned that if they don’t adhere to SOPs, they will be closed.
Meanwhile, weddings, burials have been allowed to operate but with only 20 people maximum.
Shopping malls, hotels and factories have also been left to operate their businesses but following SOPs. Sports activities can also go on however no fans are allowed on ground.
“Bars, discos, cinema halls remain closed. Sports events will go on in stadiums minus spectators.” President Museveni
