Kenyan Schools and head teachers Turned Into Coops Due To Covid-19 Outbreak

Schools Remain Closed Due To Insufficient Funds To Run The New Normal

Some schools have failed to open due to lack of funds to run day to day expenses during this new normal. Schools officially opened on 15th October 2020. The headteachers of these schools cried out to the government to help them out if they are to do actually open.

Some have actually already lost hope of operating this year and have actually sent their students to other schools.

Every school is required to have a temperature gun, head shields or masks, sanitizers or water and soap. They are also expected to have properly ventilated buildings among others. All these are indeed expensive to put in place because its a long term issue.

The most frustrating fact about this is that even the parents do not have enough money to pay up for school fees that may be could have been used to buy some of these materials.

Some schools even went ahead to ask for food from the government to feed the students. This had been experienced mostly in the rural based schools.

The ministry of Education is on the other hand willing to close every school that will be found lacking these requirements. Is this fair?, we don’t know but we know is that it is safe for the moment.

However, its not only some schools that have not opened but also some candidates. They have not yet reported to school because of insufficient funds. We shall still ask the same question, what would have hurt if this year was just declared a dead year academically?
