Museveni has affirmed the ongoing news about the reopening of schools for semi candidates. Semi candidates include P.6, S.3, and S.5. The President said this while addressing the nation on all media platforms.
These semi candidates are expected to report to school on 1st March 2021. According to Museveni, the country can handle this number.
The president said there are about 1.7million semi candidates and 1.3million candidates. This makes a total of 3million. This number compared to the 15M is easier to handle in case of anything.
Other students of different lower classes are to be thought about after a vaccine has been received.
The vaccine will be first received by Teachers, health workers, security personnel, Elders, and Children.
Similarly, Universities and tertiary institutes will also start operations in March for all students. In addition to the online classes that some universities have been having, there will be physical learning for, especially science students.
Most probably by the end of April, all students would have reported back to school. This is because Museveni said July will mark the end of the 2020 Academic year.
Without a doubt, this is very good news for students and schools as well. They were closed last year on 20th March as Coronavirus was intense in the world.
We really hope that the ministry of Education has learned a lot from this season. By now, we all must admit that it’s time to adapt to e-learning by any means possible.
