President Yoweri Museveni has called upon Ugandans to be very observant about their health. He advised them to seek immediate medical attention as soon as they feel unwell.
He made these remarks on Friday night as he eased the restrictions the country has been experiencing for the last 53 days.
He said the delay to seek medical care is the reason why Uganda has seen a steep rise in the number of people succumbing to Covid-19.
‘’When the crisis started on the 15th of March (2020), I was on this TV, I even told you everything the doctors had told me. One of them was that as soon as you hear anything; any symptoms like flu….or fever, go and check for Corona. But some people don’t. Even here in State House, I have had to take tough measures against staff. They hide. Somebody is having flu but he’s hiding. That’s where the problem is because this disease apparently is very dangerous,’’ he said.
He said that even when the body defeats the disease, one might end up losing their life. He said that this is how the son of Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, the former justice Minister, had lost his life sometime this month.
As of Friday, Uganda had registered 81,992 people who have fought a successful battle against Covid-19. This number is tallied against a total of 93,675 people who have acquired the virus since March 2020.
