The Senior Presidential Advisor SPA/PA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, also the Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), has issued a call to action for Ugandans to actively engage in the current General Update of the National Voters’ Register.

The electoral exercise commenced on Monday, January 20, 2025, with the flag-off by Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, at Kamwokya II, Kampala Central Division. Scheduled daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, including weekends, the registration will close on February 10, 2025.

Addressing the public from the ONC offices at Kyambogo in Kampala, Hajjat Namyalo stressed the importance of citizens verifying their details at parish update stations.

She underlined the significance of this process in ensuring a transparent and fair election in the upcoming year.

ONC commitment to transparent updates

Assuring regular updates on the voter registration progress, the Senior Presidential Advisor highlighted the pivotal role of each citizen in fortifying the nation’s democratic evolution.

The ONC is dedicated to providing information to facilitate citizen engagement.

In addition to the National Voters’ Register update, the Commission will also update the Voters’ Registers for Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

These include registers for Youth Councils, PWD Councils, and Older Persons Councils, essential for their respective elections.

The general update of the National Voters’ Register is a crucial preparatory step for the seamless organization of the 2025/2026 General Elections, emphasizing the importance of citizen involvement in shaping the nation’s democratic future.
