Ugandan Singer Shakira Shakiraa Details Her Journey In America’s Got Talent

Ugandan singer Shakira Kamulegeya aka Shakira Shakiraa has detailed her journey in America’s Got Talent. This is one of the biggest talent pageants in the world and a dream come true for many.

Luckily for Shakira, she was able to grace it. Shakira revealed that she left for the US with her brother when she was aged 17. They were going to reunite with their mother who had left them in the care of her sister.

However, she mistreated them most especially Shakira Shakiraa. The singer on reaching the US developed an admiration for the AGT. Luckily for the Lokomoti singer, she auditioned for it but things didn’t go well.

Part of the then judges including Victoria Beckham and Ryan Seacrest didn’t like her. However, Simon Cowell did like her but she lost her voice during the auditions.

She had chosen to sing Jackie Chandiru’s Gold Digger. Unfortunately she was eliminated and when some Ugandans in the US saw her performance, they criticized her.

“Simon Cowell is known for being honest, and during my audition for American Idol in front of him, Victoria Beckham, and Ryan Seacrest, I happened to lose my voice. While Victoria Beckham and Ryan Seacrest didn’t like me, Simon Cowell did. However, I was eventually eliminated. When the show aired, and Ugandans in America saw me, they criticized me,” she said.

Furthermore, Shakira said that she returned to Uganda and did a song with Daddy Andre. It was here that rumors started making rounds on how they were dating. She decided to fly back before eventually coming back to settle here permanently.

The singer has been in the news after her phone was stolen. And she started getting threatened to have her private photos and videos dropped if she doesn’t pay a ransom.
