Despite having worked on different traditional media houses for quite long, Sheilah Gashumba has never shied away from criticizing their mode of operation. She has now pointed out how the different media houses are dragging the music industry backward.
Taking to social media, she said that artist managers also need to train their clients on how to conduct themselves in the media.
The NRG radio presenter said that not every question is worth answering. She went ahead to say that these musicians apparently give more media interviews than hits delivered.
According to her, every talking thing regardless of what they sing nowadays is hosted on media stations. Even other little things that do not deserve to be talked about are made a talking point on a nationwide scale.
The socialite also said that it is one of the saddest eras watching Ugandan TV. It’s like they are working against musicians taking the country further. When a musician takes the country forward, these media houses drag him/her backward 99 more times.
“Artist managers should give their artists media training!! Not everything they ask your artist should be answered!! Some of you look very dumb answering some questions!! Ugandan artists give more media interviews than delivering global/national hits for us. Every small thing, interview!! Ah banange!! Tv and radio presenters hosting every talking thing these days!! Must be a sad error of watching Ugandan tv and supporting Ugandan music! When one artist takes us one step ahead, the tv and radios take us 100 steps behind,” she said.
