Singer Martha Mukisa On Why She Didn’t React Violently To Fan Who Groped Her

Singer Martha Mukisa has come out to reveal the major reason she didn’t react violently to a male fan who sexually harassed her.

A video surfaced online last month where this particular fan touched the singer’s private parts with his finger. Instead of violently reacting, she simply cautioned him. She has now revealed that she was only saving lives.

The Sango singer added that she could have easily kicked the fan in the head since she was on an elevated stage. She however restrained herself because there were two possibilities if her reaction was violent.

According to Martha, kicking this fan could have accidentally killed him or he could have thrown the bottle he was holding at her.

“I really felt bad when this fan touched me to be honest. But then I understood the fan base I was singing for. They were all drunk and this particular fan was holding a big bottle of Uganda Waragi.

The stage being above the fans, I could have kicked this fan but I could have killed him or in retaliation he could have thrown the bottle injuring me. As an artiste you, really have to identify the audience you are singing for and react accordingly,” she said.

She however blamed the organizers of the shows for this mess. Martha said that the stage was closer to the fans and when this is done, these always feel entitled to do whatever they feel like.

It is therefore upon the events organizers to always protect the artistes. Therefore, they should avoid stages that make fans come into close contact with artistes.

Martha is not the only artist that fans have tried to grop. The likes of Winnie Nwagi, Vinka, Lydia Jazmine, Karole Kasita, Chozen Blood among others have gone through such debacles.
