Six Arrested in Wakiso Following Increased Motorcycle Theft

There has been an increase in the number of motorcycle theft cases in Wakiso lately and this forced the police to carry an operation.

The intelligence-led operation carried out by Nsangi police led to the arrest of six suspected motorcycle thugs.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson said among the arrested is 26-year-old Muyingo Brian. He is an online marketer and resident of Kinawa zone, Kasenge Ward, Kyengera Town Council.

When police arrested Muyingo, he had in his possession one of the suspected stolen motorcycles, UEY 444Y.

“A search was conducted at his place of residence and one motorcycle registration number UFC 521M Bajaj, two number plates UEY 649Y and UED 711X, and suspected forged Motorcycle documents were recovered,” said Owoyesigyire.

The other five suspects were arrested from areas of Kinawa, Kalerwe, Budo, and Kasenge.

Owoyesigyire said these suspects led them to recover six other suspected stolen motorcycles. They had the following registration numbers; UES 229U, UFF 624V, UEY 444 Y, UFC 521M, UFD 864A, and UFB 113 W

Owoyesigyire further said they are yet to verify ownership of the said motorcycles. However, all the suspects are currently detained at Nsangi Police station as investigations into motorcycle theft progress.
