Police identified the boy (deceased) as Ceaser Ahimbisibwe, son of Edward Ssekabanza, a resident of Gahooro village. After the accident, bystanders rushed him to Clare Ssenga Health Center in a critical condition.
Shortly after his arrival, he passed on due to his severe injuries.
The Police in Kisoro registered the accident as TAR/26/2022 involving their own truck, registration number UP 7644 Land Cruiser, belonging to Central Police Station Kisoro.
At the time of the accident, number 55220 Corporal driver Robert Atuhire had been driving the truck. This is according to the Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate.
Furthermore, Maate revealed that the accident occurred at around 6:30 pm when the victim and two other children played by the roadside.
Eyewitnesses that were present said the children ran ran towards the vehicle in motion when the victim hit his head on it.
A team of officers from Kisoro police station arrived at the scene of the accident and later visited the hospital.
Relatives of the deceased later got custody of the body for burial. The police parked the truck at the station as inquiries into the cause of the accident went on.
