The government early this week announced how it intends to advance financial assistance to groups of people termed as vulnerable.
Nabbanja went ahead to say that the urban vulnerable groups would be considered first.
This is because they are the ones who are likely to be most affected by the presidential directives.
She added that they have set up a committee to identify the vulnerable groups using NIRA and LC details to access these groups.
Furthermore, the committee went on to identify boda boda riders, single mothers, slum dwellers as some of the vulnerable groups. These groups qualify for this stimulus package.
In more strategies that have been devised to avoid difficulties while distributing the money, the prime Minister said that all those who have ever received a sum of more than Ugx 500,000 and above through mobile money won’t be eligible for the package.
She also said that there were a number of mechanisms to know a vulnerable person.
The RCC of Kampala Hussein Hudu showed concern that the authorities concerned might sneak in names onto the list who are not eligible. They will end up fleecing the money meant to help the under previlleged.
He therefore tasked local council authorities to be keen on who is on the list and who isn’t .
